Once you have downloaded your Victorian Energy Compare report file from United Energy you can analyse it and find out lots about your energy use (everyone on the Peninsula has United Energy as their actual electricity supplier).

Here are some tools you can use to do these analyses (and even generate your own Victorian Energy Compare report data file to play with). So log into United Energy and download the Victorian Energy Compare report for your home and have lots of fun!

Beware: these tools get nerdier the further down the page you go!

1. Energy Cost Analyser

This link lets you analyse your Victorian Energy Compare report file to explore costs.  You first need to log in and download that file from United Energy

Why would you use this analyser?

You might want to see your total annual power use and solar exports. But you might also want to look at each season and see where you could save costs by being smart about which retailer you use at different times of the year. You can even just explore a specified date range. We have added the energy rates of a few retailers to get you started (not kept up-to-date) or you can add you own rates.

(There are some questions you might answer using this tool at the bottom of this page)

2. Victorian Energy Compare report Data Viewer:

Take a close look at your Victorian Energy Compare report  content with this data viewer. â€‹It lets you load the file and then see import and export energy throughout the year as well as month by month. It shows usage for day and night hours separately.

Why would you want to do this?

You might want to drill down and see, for each month of the year, what your energy costs are during day and night.

This 'time-of-day' version replaces the daytime/nighttime filter with a time-of day filter, so you can zero in on specific hours of the day. You can also enter your own rates for import and export.

Why? Maybe you want to work out how much you import and export between 11 am and 2 pm each month, and what it cost or maybe how much you sold.

Getting more nerdy from here on ... !

3. Victorian Energy Compare report file creator

This lets you create your own custom-designedVictorian Energy Compare report file from your own choice of energy patterns through the day and year.

Why would you want to do this?

If you don't have your own Victorian Energy Compare report file, you might like to create one that you can use with our Energy Cost Analyser. Maybe you'd like to explore what the costs would be if you installed that 5 kW spa pool and ran the heater from 2 pm to 5 pm each afternoon. So create the file, then open it in our Energy Cost Analyser. You can have different consumption rates for each hour of the day for different seasons. Ok this is really for nerdy people ;)

(Here is a simpler version without seasons - you just set the power used by your house for each hour of the day, rather than different values for colder and warmer months).

4. Some questions you can answer using these tools!

How much do I export in the middle of the day, say between 11 am and 3 pm? (In $ and kWh)

How much excess energy would I have for the rest of the day (2 pm to 11 am the next day)?

How would this differ between summer and winter?

What if the Feed-in-tariff changes from 3 c/kWh to 0 c/kWh?

If I have a holiday house in Flinders with solar, how much could I export to my Melbourne home?
If I can only manage to sell energy between 2 pm and 6 pm at 6 c/kWh, how much will I save?

What the rates of a few other power retailers that I can compare with.
