Flinders Virtual Energy Network

This form is for those who are interested in a Flinders Virtual Energy Network or who just want to stay informed about our progress.

What is a Virtual Energy Network? Here is a one page explainer.

How much excess solar do I have each year?

We are collecting information (Oct/Nov 2025) to help us decide on the viability of a Virtual Energy Network (VEN) for Flinders residents. The most important information to us is how much excess solar you have over the course of a year. An easy way to find this is to log in to United Energy and choose View Details from your dashboard. There you can select ‘Year', choose 2024 to get a full year's data, and you will be shown your ‘Energy used’ and ‘Energy exported’ values for 2024. (Or for even more fun, use our Power Cost Analyser to explore your usage and costs further!)

Let's start with these two numbers that you obtained from United Energy above (if you have no solar, just enter '0' for the second number):

If you have a solar system, please give us a rough idea of when you installed it (so we know if we have a full year of data):

Now a little info about you please. Some live in Melbourne and have a holiday house in Flinders. So...

What type of property do you have in Flinders?

And who are you?

It would be useful to us to be able to explore your data to see usage and solar export throughout the days of the year. It's not crucial to us, but if you are happy to share, we'd love you to! You will need to upload your 'Victorian Energy Compare report' (which we refer to as an NMI file) which you can get from the United Energy Dashboard by going to 'Download 'Reports', then choosing '4. Victorian Energy Compare report Download'.

We will of course keep this private and not share it. It does not contain any personal or identifying information about you beyond your electricity meter's identifying number (NMI).
